During the tournament

Can you go on safari between matches? Only if the gap earns it.

Yes is the lazy answer. The useful answer depends on whether your gap is 24, 48, or 72 hours, and what happens to your ticket if a transfer slips.

What each window actually allows

The gap test

24 HOURS

NOT A SAFARI WINDOW

One night between matches leaves no usable buffer. A single delayed transfer puts your next kick-off at risk. Use the day close to your host city instead.

  • Kampala city + Lake Victoria sunset

  • Jinja day trip from Kampala

  • Nairobi National Park morning drive

48 HOURS

POSSIBLE, CAREFULLY

Workable only with a short road transfer, a single lodge, and a fixed return time the morning before match day. No internal flights on the return leg.

  • Lake Mburo escape (2 nights)

  • Ziwa Rhino + Nile

  • Amboseli quick turn from Nairobi

72 HOURS

SEVERAL GOOD OPTIONS

Three days open up real game viewing with a full buffer day before your next match. This is the sweet spot for a match-gap safari.

  • Murchison Falls (3 nights)

  • Queen Elizabeth NP

  • Masai Mara by scheduled flight

4-5 DAYS

REGIONAL MOVEMENT WORKS

Enough time to cross a border or fit in gorilla trekking with recovery time. We still never end a safari on the same day as an important match.

  • Bwindi gorilla extension

  • Queen Elizabeth + Bwindi

  • Serengeti or Ngorongoro loop

The framework

MATCH → BUFFER → TRANSFER → SAFARI → BUFFER → MATCH

Every match-gap safari we build runs through the same six stages. Remove either buffer, and the whole thing becomes a bet on traffic, weather, and aviation.

01 · MATCH

Your fixture is the fixed point. Everything else moves around it.

02 · BUFFER

A clear half- or full-day after the match, before any transfer.

03 · TRANSFER

Road or air is chosen for reliability, not the shortest headline time.

04 · SAFARI

Sized to the gap you actually have and never to the gap you wish you had.

05 · BUFFER

A whole day back in the host city before the next kick-off.

06 · MATCH

You arrive rested, with the ticket you paid for still usable.

MATCH-GAP PRODUCTS

SAFARIS SIZED TO YOUR GAP, NOT TO A BROCHURE

24 HOURS

KAMPALA ESCAPE

FROM KAMPALA/ENTEBBE

City, culture, and a Lake Victoria sunset without leaving the host city radius. Back at your hotel the same night.

Fans with a single night between matches who still want something memorable.

48 HOURS

LAKE MBURO ESCAPE

FROM KAMPALA

Short tarmac transfer, one lodge, boat safari, and walking safari. The only Ugandan park you can genuinely do in two nights.

A 48-hour gap where reliability matters more than headline wildlife.

72 HOURS

MURCHISON ESCAPE

FROM KAMPALA

Three nights for the Nile Delta launch cruise, the falls, and Big Five game drives, with a full buffer day on return.

The strongest match-gap safari in Uganda when you have three days.

4 DAYS

BWINDI GORILLA EXTENSION

FROM ENTEBBE

Fly in, trek once, recover, fly out. Permit secured upon confirmation and scheduled so that the trek day is never a match day.

Football plus gorillas. The pairing only Uganda can offer.

5 DAYS

QUEEN ELIZABETH + BWINDI

FROM ENTEBBE

Tree-climbing lions and the Kazinga Channel before the forest trek, with a rest day built in before your return.

Travellers with a mid-tournament break who want breadth as well as gorillas.

7 NIGHTS

THE FINAL WHISTLE EXTENSION

FROM POST-TOURNAMENT

Safari plus gorillas after the final. You have already flown this far. This is the cheapest wildlife you will ever add.

Anyone flying home the day after the final for no good reason.

Road or flight?

HOW WE MOVE PEOPLE BETWEEN MATCHES

Leg By Air By Road Our Call
Nairobi → Kampala 1h 20m flight 12–14h drive + border Fly. The road day is never worth a match-day risk.
Kampala → Bwindi 1h 30m to Kihihi 8–9h drive Fly when the gap is under five days.
Nairobi → Masai Mara 45m scenic flight 5–6h drive Fly on short gaps; drive when you have the days.
Kampala → Murchison Falls 1h charter 5h drive Drive — the road is good and the charter rarely pays for itself.
Nairobi → Dar es Salaam 1h 30m flight Not advisable Fly, and never on match day.
Dar es Salaam → Arusha 1h 20m flight 9–10h drive Fly. Arusha is the gateway to the northern circuit.

Send us your fixtures. We'll find the gaps.

Give us your match dates and host cities, and we will show you where a safari fits without putting a single kick-off at risk.
