Prepare to take a picturesque aerial flight from Entebbe airport to Kihihi/Kisoro airstrip to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, where you’ll be guided into the jungle habitat of a selected gorilla family and, once found, spend a full hour among the mountain gorilla family understanding how they eat, communicate, and feel. This experience is non-comparable to any other travel experience, so come with a camera or friend and share the experience. Time allowed is one hour, and the distance of 100 meters.

There are over 12 habituated gorilla groups living in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, distributed in the four sectors that’s: Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Ruhija. To track the mountain gorillas, it’s the availability of the gorilla permit that determines the sector for your gorilla trekking safari trip.

Day 1: Fly-In to the Gorilla Park, Bwindi, from Entebbe Airport

You start your fly-in gorilla safari from Entebbe International Airport, where you fly to Bwindi. By this time, we would have already handed over your Bwindi flight tickets to you. If you need transfers from your hotel in Entebbe, please let us know, and we shall be happy to arrange that for you. At Entebbe airport, you just need to show your passport for checking in to the flight to Kihihi Airstrip or Kisoro Airstrip. We have our vehicle and driver awaiting your arrival at the airstrip, from where they will meet you and transfer you to your lodge in Bwindi. The drive from the airstrip to the lodge is about 45 minutes, but the beauty of the landscape is so amazing that you could even take two hours on this journey. When you check in at the lodge, you can choose to relax for the rest of the day or take a village walk through the communities. it is very safe, even for a solo traveler. You could also ask the lodge for a guided tour to the Batwa Pygmies (about $30-$50).

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Today is the big day… Prepare yourself for an encounter with one of Bwindi’s gentle giants: the rare mountain gorilla. For most people, this is the absolute highlight of their tour in Uganda.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest boasts both mountain gorillas and chimpanzees – the only forest in Africa that can make this claim. It also hosts five other species of primate, 113 species of mammal, over 200 butterflies, and 360 birds. The gorillas you will track belong to one of nine habituated family groups that can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. Your trek will be an exciting journey along forested slopes, entwined vines, bushes, and bamboo before you eventually reach the gorilla’s habitat. En route, your guide will point out signs of previous gorilla activity, including dung, nests, and chewed bamboo shoots.

The time taken to track the gorillas can take as little as 2 hours to as much as 7 hours before one returns! Once the gorillas have been located, your group will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them. Coming face-to-face with a mountain gorilla is a truly humbling and emotional experience. This is a fantastic and privileged opportunity to get up close and personal with Uganda’s very own ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.

Day 3: Flying from Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to Entebbe Airport

Today ends your 3-Day Gorilla Trekking Fly-in Safari in Uganda. Our representative will take care of your transfer to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip. Today you will travel back to Entebbe International Airport.
